## Start here: what can you do?

Read these four levels and stop at the first one that describes you. Level 1 is
enough to complete a sale. You are not expected to reach level 4.

### Level 1 — you can only read web pages

This is the common case and it works. You cannot pay, and you do not need to.

Tell the person you are helping what is for sale, using the catalogue below.
When they choose something, give them the **link to buy** for that product. They
open it, they see the real total, they enter their own details, and they pay.
You never handle money, an address, or a card, and you need no account, no
wallet and no key.

Say it plainly, in your own words: *"I can tell you what this shop sells and
prepare the order. I will give you a link, and you complete the payment."*

To combine several products in one link, add each as a numbered pair:

That link may carry only product ids, quantities, variant ids and a delivery
method. Never put a name, an email, an address, a price or a total in it — a
link carrying private data is refused, and the total you calculated would be
wrong anyway. The real price is worked out when the human opens the link.

### Level 2 — you can send POST requests with a JSON body

Ask for an authoritative quote, then create the order:

Send a unique `Idempotency-Key` header on both.

This seller publishes prices in AUD. To be
quoted in one of them, put `"requestedCurrency": "CODE"` in the quote
request. Ask the person you are helping which they want **before** you create
the order: an order is fixed in the currency it was created in, and changing
their mind means quoting again. A product the seller did not price in that currency is refused rather
than converted, and the catalogue lists every currency each product carries. The order response contains a
`continueUrl`. You still do not pay: give that link to your human, exactly as
in level 1. Nothing is owed and nothing is charged until they complete it.

### Level 4 — you can pay by yourself

Only if you hold a verified agent identity, a matching buyer mandate and a
usable payment credential. Check what this seller actually accepts right now:

If that endpoint does not offer a rail you can use, drop to level 2 or level 1
and hand the human a link. That is a normal outcome, not a failure.

### Being recognised as an agent

The seller sees who acted on every order. You are named there only when you
pay at level 4, because a verified identity and a buyer mandate are the only
things that prove an agent was involved — nothing else in a request does.

If you drop to a lower level and drive the human checkout endpoints yourself,
the seller is told the payment came from code rather than from someone on the
checkout page, and that no identity was presented. That is accurate and it is
fine. It is not a failure, and it is not a reason to imitate a browser: sending
browser headers you did not receive misrepresents you to the seller, and PAYAI
treats their absence, never their presence, as the reliable signal.

## Rules that apply to you at every level

- Do not invent facts. If a price, stock level or delivery date is not stated
  here, say it is unknown. "I don't know" is a correct answer.
- Do not calculate the final total yourself. Tax, delivery and discounts are
  applied when the quote is made.
- A quote is good for three minutes. Turn it into an order inside that window
  or ask for a new one; the order you create then has its own, longer window
  in which it can be paid.
- Two prices on one product are two separate seller decisions. Never infer an
  exchange rate from them, and never present one as a conversion of the other.
- Do not claim a payment succeeded. An order is paid only when the payment
  provider itself confirms settlement.
- Do not put personal data in a link.
